“It was bad.” Those comments from L’Anse Village fire fighter Fabian Kristo came following the horrific scene at Holiday Gas Station in L’Anse late last week, which resulted in extensive structure fire to the station and surrounding vehicles and the fatal death of a 43-year-old L’Anse man, Alan Dantes Jr. The Calumet state police post state  troopers responded around 11:10 p.m. Thursday night to the Holiday Gas Station for the fatal crash and a large scale structure fire. The investigation revealed a semitruck and trailer struck the gas pumps resulting in fatally wounding Dantes while he was outside filling his vehicle with gas. The crash caused an extensive structure fire to the station and surrounding vehicles. To read more, subscribe to the L’Anse Sentinel online, or buy a print copy at our local retailers.
