The sound of fiddles, guitars, banjos and voices once again drifted across the grounds of the Aura Community Hall this past weekend as the 48th annual Aura Jamboree brought musicians, dancers, food vendors and visitors together for two days of music and fellowship. Despite smoky air from ongoing wildfires in Canada and Minnesota, the long-running summer tradition carried on with the familiar spirit of freedom, friendship and shared song that has defined the event for generations. Held July 17 and 18 at the Aura Community Hall, the Jamboree continued a tradition that has been rooted at the hall since 1976. Since 1977, good music and even better times have drawn people back to Aura year after year, and this year’s celebration was no exception. Visitors came from across the Upper Peninsula, from Wisconsin and from other parts of the country to listen, perform, dance, camp and reconnect with friends old and new.
