The sights, sounds, and unmistakable spirit of summer filled the Baraga County Fairgrounds this past weekend as families, exhibitors, volunteers, vendors, and visitors gathered for another memorable weekend at the Baraga County Fair. From the steady clip of horses in the show ring to the roar of engines in the pit, the fair once again brought the community together in Pelkie for three days of agriculture, entertainment, friendly competition, and hometown tradition. This year’s fair was held Aug. 7-9 and carried the theme “A Tradition Worth Keeping,” a fitting description for an event that continues to celebrate Baraga County’s deep agricultural roots while offering new experiences for fairgoers of all ages. Across the grounds, barns stood open, food vendors served steady lines of hungry visitors, music drifted through the afternoon air, and the midway stayed lively with games, raffles, hands-on activities, and the familiar bustle of neighbors greeting neighbors.
